Caffeine and Energy

I used to enjoy caffeine but found that my threshold kept getting out of wack. My solution was to take a couple of days a week to detox and bring the threshold back to normal. However, over time, my heart has had trouble with it, and I’ve found that the benefits only last 30 mins, and then I’m wiped out.

Not all caffeine is created equal, of course, and I’ve found Matcha and Guarana to have the longest lasting benefits for me. But I no longer use them for energy. I use them in very small doses (15 mg or less) to clear my brain and improve my thinking abilities. Now, I use a mix of herbal powders that I drink every day to boost my energy levels. Many of the ingredients help with stress relief and the management of hormone levels. And we all know that less stress = more energy.

I’ll list the ingredients below. It’s not the recipe, though, because everyone is different, and you should tailor it to fit your needs. I’ll also note the benefits of each, but I strongly recommend that you research each ingredient thoroughly and check with your doctor if you are on medications. If you’re not a fan of drinking such things, each powder can be found in capsule form.
Personally, I find solace and tranquility in the simple act of making a cup of tea in the morning. The meditative process that accompanies this ritual is a source of restoration for me. It allows me to pause, take a moment for myself, and appreciate the gentle rhythm of life.
There is something magical about the combination of warm water cascading into a teacup, the aroma wafting through the air, and the delicate dance of leaves or powders as they steep. This serene sequence of actions creates an oasis of calm amidst the busyness of everyday life.
In today’s fast-paced world, it is easy to become overwhelmed and disconnected from our inner selves. But when I engage in this morning tea-making ritual, I am reminded to slow down and savor each step with intention. It becomes an opportunity to be present in the moment and cultivate mindfulness.
This tranquil routine sets a positive tone. It grounds me and provides much-needed clarity before diving into the demands and challenges for my day. The restorative power lies not only in sipping on a warm cup but also in immersing myself fully in this sensory experience from start to finish.
So as each morning dawns anew, I embrace this cherished practice as more than just making tea – but as an invitation for renewal, reflection, and inner peace.
Here’s a list of ingredients that I often use. I don’t always use all of them. My tea is often tailored to how I’m feeling. Though some ingredients go in almost every cup and are my base. The links are where I get my ingredients. Sometimes, it’s hard to find good quality, and these are my personal favorites. It can also be expensive to buy everything at once, but they last a long time, so maybe just start with a couple of ingredients and add things later. If I were to pick the first 2 to get me started, those would be mushrooms and Guarana.

Base ingredients:
Organic Mega Mushrooms (boosts immunity and helps regulate hormones, including cortisol)

Cinnamon
Organic Maca Powder (Energy booster)
Ashwaganda Root Powder (Adaptogen. Helps boost resilience in stressful situations)
Organic Guarana Seed Powder (Mental clarity – 15 mg or less – more is not always better)

Additional ingredients if I need them:
Schisandra Berry Extract (Adaptogen. Liver Support)
Organic Ginseng (Flights fatigue, lowers blood sugar)
Chicory Root Powder Roasted (Often used as a coffee replacement. Helps with blood sugar regulation)
Blue Spirulina Powder (immune and metabolism booster)
Ginkgo Biloba Powder (Mental Clarity)

I also like to add a dropperful of red clover extract (hormone regulation) that I make myself from the clover in our field.

I add my powders to my cup, then add hot water, and then I add a non dairy unsweetened milk of some sort. I like my tea to be savory, not sweet, but you do whatever works for you. I’ve found that it helps me feel so good that I now enjoy the flavor even though I started drinking this concoction solely for the benefits. I use this mix backpacking and biking and flying and every day in between.
